Engaging FCS Career Exploration: Free Resources to Use Tomorrow

About the Module

Career exploration engages students a time when they are at a higher risk for disengaging from learning due to challenges in forming identity, coping with peer pressure, and navigating new environments. During this webinar, we will share ideas for integrating engaging activities, hands-on skills, and soft skills into FCS-related career exploration.  Career clusters that will be included in this webinar are Hospitality and Tourism, Human Services, Education and Training and Visual Arts and Interior Design.

Presenters will discuss:

1) Sources for free curricula that can help you build a career exploration foundations within FCS
2) Information about hands-on resources that will make FCS career exploration come to life
3) How to access a series of free assets you can use immediately
4) Sourcing for integrating soft skill instruction into FCS career exploration and
5) Considerations for tying career exploration into CTE competitive events.

Meet the Presenter(s)

Denise Bodart

Denise Bodart is a 30 year veteran in the business of education having experience in professional development, product development, product management and marketing.  She is currently serving on the Executive Council as Secretary for the National Consortium for Health Science Education. Currently she also serves as the Co-chair for the Alliance for Family and Consumer Sciences.

Denise is the Senior Product Manager at Realityworks Inc.  She works with new product development, curriculum development, training and marketing initiatives for the health science and FCS product lines for the company.  In her role she brings new products to the CTE marketplace to teach hands-on career skills in a variety of career clusters.

Prior to her role at Realityworks, Denise worked for 18 years for National Business Institute, a professional development company.  During her tenure she was instrumental in the start-up of a paralegal division, and K-12 products and training division.  She also spearheaded the development of a new private K-8 school where she taught art and music for several years.
